MEET RUTH
Ruth is a qualified Professional Pastoral Supervisor and Social Worker with over 25 years of experience in various ministries.
With their young family, David & Ruth Sheath planted The Lakes Church, on the Central Coast, in 2002. As the church grew, Ruth served in many roles, both as a volunteer and as part of the staff team. She deeply values the privilege of being part of the church and the wider community for such an extended and meaningful time.
Ruth has been involved in FIEC (Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches), now a denomination, from its first days as a support network for church planters and their wives. Over the years she has benefitted from coaching and supervision as she has sought to grow and serve in the complexity of pastoral ministry, work well in a team and continue to grow in insight and personal wellbeing. Now, Ruth continues to find it a privilege to offer this support to others.
About Professional Pastoral Supervision
Professional Pastoral Supervision starts with a gospel-centered perspective:
We are all flawed, on a journey to maturity and are in ministry only by the grace of our perfect, powerful and forgiving God.
Ministry is complex. It can feel relentless, difficult, lonely, and draining, often impacting us and our family. Supervision provides a safe, confidential space to step back from the demands of ministry, reflect, feel heard, and feel supported as you gain the perspective needed to move forward.
It requires change, reflection, and growth to keep up with constant changes and developments of policy, pastoral issues, team dynamics and culture.
Professional Pastoral Supervision is about supporting wellbeing and growth for the pastor and the ministry they are involved in. Ruth works confidentially with individuals, walking alongside them to address the unique issues and situations that arise in their ministries. She is also experienced in group supervision which fosters shared learning, mutual support, and diverse perspectives, creating a collaborative space for growth and reflection in ministry. She finds it an honour to support and encourage others on this journey.
